It's my joy to create warm, cinematic images that feel like home.
On a warm September day, Abby & Austin tied their lives together surrounded by their closest friends and family…. and me! The day was filled with personal touches… Abby played florist and even made her own bouquet and Austin made the altar they were married beneath. Every detail of their day was so well thought out and orchestrated, I couldn’t believe some of the setbacks they’d experienced (like having to get their flowers elsewhere because of a tropical storm ruining their friend’s garden).
Towards the end of the night, I was photographing people dancing and I caught Abby and Austin in this intimacy that not many can create in the midst of such a crowd. But there they were.
So many times throughout the day I just had this tingly feeling that I was a part of something really special. Austin & Abby met in Panama when they were both in The Peace Corps and the love they have for adventure and one another is just breathtaking. They gave each other mementos of travel as wedding gifts. And then Abby’s dad gave a toast, and then they danced together and he cried and I cried. Her dad talked about how special Abby & Austin are and how their friends had come from all over the world to be there. Their friends swarmed around them when they made their way to the reception. There wasn’t a dull moment on the dance floor, not a second of the day when I even thought about what time it was- which is unusual, because this is my job. But there was just this fierce magical energy, that energy which we call love.
